Lyonel's grand-daughter, Jennifer (Chudy) Simon, furnished the following information about him. "Lyonel graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Forestry (which he never used). He was a salesman all of his life, except during World War II when he worked at Norma Hoffman. a ball bearing plant (which he hated). While serving with the Army Corps of Engineers in WWI, he was wounded and received a purple heart. After the war he went back to sales. He sold everything from Schick Shavers to promotional materials for banks; he never sold door to door. Lyonel was a quiet man who liked swimming and cards and little kids, but he loved golf. He was bald since the age of 20 and besides the nickname of "Pete" he had also been called "Pops". He was sometimes mistaken for Dwight D. Eisenhower. He retired to Florida in 1966." Lyonel Almy's S.S. Number is 043-03-6870.

Jennifer wrote about her grand-mother Edna as follows. "Edna didn't go to college, although she was a brilliant, daring woman. She was a flapper, and smoked and wore pants in the days when this was unthinkable for a woman. She attended secretarial school (when Lyonel became ill) in order to gain skills to support the family." Later she worked for a bank, working her way up from secretary to Assistant Cashier, which was an officer position.
