He m.(1) Portsmouth, RI, 16 Mar 1696, ANN LAWTON, b. 25 Apr 1678; d. 12 Feb 1739; dau. of Isaac and Elizabeth (Tallman) Lawton. She was a Quaker. He m.(2) St. Paul's Church, Narragansett, RI, 3 Sep 1740, ABIGAIL REMINGTON GARDINER, b. 1681; d. 6 Mar 1763; widow of William Gardiner, Jr., dau. of John and Abigail (Richmond) Remington.

Newport, 15 Feb 1820. Elizabeth and William's son William was one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence.
ivANN, or AMY, b. Newport, 1705; d. Newport, 28 Sep 1774; m. Trinity Church, Newport, 22 May 1726, SAMUEL CRANSTON, b. Newport 17 Jan 1707/8; d. Newport bf 2 Apr 1744. Children (Cranston): 1. Samuel, b. 24 May 1736; 2. Almy, b. 20 Jul 1737.

In his will, proved 13 Dec 1743, he named wife, Abigail; daughter, Elizabeth, wife of William Ellery; grandchildren, children of Elizabeth Ellery; daughter-in-law Elizabeth Almy of Newport, RI; grandson, Job Almy, not yet of age.
