Frank was thirteen years old when the family moved to Nebraska. He was soon ready for higher education, or high school. In those days the University of Nebraska had a preparatory academy to prepare students for college standing. This was the school he attended. The classes met in old U Hall, which in the 1880's housed the entire University. After pursuing his preparatory work, he completed the college course of four years, receiving his Bachelor's Degree in 1890, the first of a long line of Almy children and grandchildren to graduate from the University of Nebraska.
