David served in the War of 1812 as a private in Captain Samuel Clark's Company, RI Militia: enlisted 1812, discharged 1815.

In his will made 6 Jan 1866, proved 9 Sep 1872, he named wife, Lydia; son Daniel Almy; daughters Lucy Maria Cory, Harriett W. Anthony, Altana F. Chase; granddaughter Elizabeth Stone. David, wife Lucy, three of their children: Elizabeth, Daniel Babcock, Altana Frances and her husband, are buried at Union Cemetery, Portsmouth. Lydia, his second wife, was buried at St. Mary's Cemetery, Portsmouth.
