Robert Forbes Almy was a university professor. He received his AB degree from Dartmouth College in 1922; an AM degree from Harvard in 1925; and his Ph.D. from Harvard in 1935. He was an instructor in English at Northwestern University 1925-27; assistant professor of English at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, 1929-39, and associate professor 1939-47; professor and chairman of the English Department, 1947.
