Joseph Almy was the chief clerk of Messrs. Almy, Brown & Slater, and subsequently of Messrs. J. & W. Slater, for a period of thirty years — from 1813 to 1843. After the later year he retired to his residence, a mile north of the village of Slatersville, where he spent his declining years in rural pursuits. He worshiped with the Society of Friends.
