News from Richmond Almy Day (1407-2551-2)

Richmond, who lives in a retirement community in Grand Forks, ND, sent me a newspaper clipping and the accompanying picture from his local paper. He wrote "the paper called asking if anyone would be interested in being interviewed about the year just past and I was chosen by the folks here as one who would do just that. The results you can see and I assure you -- I never in the wildest dream expected to be on the front page."

The newspaper quoted him as saying "I always hoped I would live long enough to see it go from 1999 to 2000," said Richmond Day 91. "I have no idea why. I used to say I wanted to see what kind of bump it makes."

Richmond's letter continued "now a strange twist -- another resident here has a daughter living in Norway. That Saturday morning the daughter called her mother from Norway to wish her a Happy New Year. She also told her mother she had seen Dick Day's picture on the front page, but the mother had not at that point read the paper."

"This electronic world has passed me by -- the gal in Norway gets our local paper every morning over the Internet."

Thanks Dick for an interesting account of the times we are living in.
