Donald J. Almy (Identified as 1407-5551-212)

Eight years ago I came across the name and address of a Donald J. Almy in Utah. I wrote to him and asked him who he was (when and where born, his parents, family, etc.) After an exchange of correspondence I found that he was very interested in Almy genealogy but that he really knew nothing about his ancestry. He had never met his father as his parents had separated around the time of his birth. Further, no one knew the name of his grandfather Almy or whether he had any aunts or uncles.

A few years ago Donald's wife, a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints, knowing of Don's desire to know his ancestry, decided that she would search the records to see if she could find the identity of Don's grandfather.

This Spring I received from Don's wife a copy of Don's birth certificate which identified his parents and a copy of his father's birth certificate which identified his grandfather as Albert Sydney Almy of Milford, Utah, age 33, who was born in Providence, Rhode Island.

This was all I needed to tie Donald into the Almy Family Tree. I already had the information that this Albert Almy had, according to the Social Security Death Index, died in Illinois in 1967 and that he had been a chemist in Salt Lake City, Utah.

I have now updated my records and Donald and his relatives have Almy Descendant Numbers.
