Following is the continuation from Newsletter No. 100 of the journal of Billings Grinnell Almy. (See introduction in Newsletter No. 85, January 1996.)
German lesson as usual. And the rest of the day as usual for that matter. An indifferent day. All Spare time put on preparation for German lesson. No psychological study or notes consequently.
Last lesson for the year with Fräulein v. Struve. The first snow that covered the ground. Wet and slippery. Laboratory closed for the year tonight. Most all lectures closed also today. In evening wrote the first part of a very long letter to Miss Winger and finished up a piece meal one to Ada.
Wrote letters all day and only got two written. But they were the same and each cost 10¢ postage. Bought two Christmas presents. But there are yet others to buy (11 in all). Haven't been feeling very well for the last two or three days. My eye especially bothering me.
Wandered around town most of the day going through the market places especially. And also studied "Passage" very diligently. More or less decided on Christmas presents. John came down Fri evening and after supper we decorated the Christmas tree with cotton gilded glittering things and candles.
Walked streets after breakfast. After dinner played dominoes with Chase & Tilton an hour or more then made our "final raid" we looked & looked & bought & bought and finally got home at 7:00 with a present for all. Presents were carried in to supper. After everybody had enjoyed their own and everybody elses we had supper. After supper games till midnight.
