Veda and Merwin Almy Celebrate 85th Birthdays

Both Veda and Merwin Almy celebrate their 85th birthdays this month (July 2005); Merwin on the 13th and Veda on the 30th .

Veda is struggling with health issues. She has Parkinson's Desease and Alzheimer's. With a minimum of pills the typical symtoms of the two deseases are being kept in control, except that Parkinson's has taken away Veda's ability to taste food. She will take one or two bites and say the food tastes awful. I taste the same food and it tastes OK to me. She is down to 93 pounds. She doesn't want to eat anything – but I give her energy drinks (Ensure, Boost, etc.) which are sustaining her at present. We haven't given up, but it is a battle.
