George B. Almy, 96, of Marblehead, MA, died August 20, 2005. George was born in Swampscott, MA, August 4, 1909, the son of Cecil Bowerman and Florence Jewett (Moore) Almy.
George was an active member of the North Shore Old Car Club and winner of many antique auto restoration awards. Predeceased by his first wife, Louise (Halverson) and his second wife, Virginia (Shrigley) Almy, a sister, Charlotte Virginia Hayden and a brother, Leonard Bowerman Almy.
Leonard B. Almy, Inventor, Entrepreneur, 92, died August 15, 2005 at the Alamitos-West Health Care Center, Los Alamitos, CA. Born in Salem, raised in Marblehead, graduate of Marblehead High School in 1929 and Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1934, member of Theta Chi.
Leonard was devoted to his home town of Marblehead, was Captain of the Marblehead Auxiliary Police for many years, president and founder of Digit Company in Marblehead, active in the North Shore Horsemen's Association, and Master of the Starr King Lodge in Salem.
After moving to St. Martin in the late 70's he co-founded the Masonic Lodge in St. Martin. In 1982, Leonard moved to Santa Ana, Costa Rica. He remained active with woodworking and horseback riding. In 1997 he moved to Seal Beach, CA. Brother of the late Virginia (Almy) Hayden of Springfield, MA and George B. Almy of Marblehead; he is survived by his wife, Liliana M. Almy of Seal Beach, CA; his son, Christopher R. Almy and wife Marjorie of Scotia, NY; and his daughter, Suzanne (Almy) Brown of Annisquam, ME
