Bert wrote in April that he and Sharon bought a new house on March 29, 2004 in Tijeras, New Mexico. He wrote "The house is on the east side of the Manzano Mountains (Manzano is the Spanish word for apple) and is about one mile from Interstate I-40. From our house it is a 22-minute drive to the Winrock Shopping Center, which many consider the center of Albuquerque. To give you a perspective, the community Rio Rancho on the northwest side of Albuquerque is 40 minutes from the Winrock Shopping Center. We also have a full-service grocery store (Smiths), a Walgreens drug store, gas stations, and several restaurants just five miles from us in the little town of Edgewood. Our new church is Calvary Chapel of the East Mountains, which is about seven miles from our house. Many people do not know that more than 50,000 people live on the east side of the mountains, which is essentially a large suburb of Albuquerque. This population extends from Estancia, Moriarty, Edgewood, Tijeras (Tijeras is the Spanish word for shears or scissors), and Cedar Crest. Tijeras is pronounced tee-hair-us."
"Our home is at an elevation of 7,000 feet and because we are part way up a hillside, we have some great views of the backside of the Sandia Mountains (Sandia is the Spanish word for watermelon), the South side of the San Pedro Mountains, and the valley floor that spreads out before us."
