During October 2005 Merwin, with the help from his son Tom and the grandchildren moved Veda and Merwin to SpringRidge Court, Assisted Living facility. It is next door to the independent living facility of SpringRidge that they were in.

General Bill Knowlton (1252-9773-34) sent the following as a possible item for an issue of the Almy Family Newsletter.
"Stephen Howell Petraeus (1252-9773-3442), great-great-grandson of Sylvia Bassett Almy, attended three high schools in four years because of his father's military assignments. His senior year was at West Potomac High School in Northern Virginia, where he stood Number One, was Valedictorian, and National Merit Scholar, and selected by MIT for college. Among other things, he is a computer buff with a thriving business selecting and installing computer systems for his clients."
Gwen wrote that her husband Aaron continues to work for Union Pacific RR. He is a senior analyst in the Engineering Accounting Department. She wrote that he is also a lover of Byzantine chant and gives lessons at church (not a hobby one runs across every day).
Gwen wrote that she has two semesters left and then she will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She has been staying home through the summer, catching up on house work (in theory anyway) and playing with Emmelia.
"Emmelia (pronounced Emmaleah) turns 9 months tomorrow (July 26) and is growing WAY too fast. She learned how to crawl a few weeks ago. She's also perfecting her wave and clapping. Every day brings new joy. Aaron and I are thrilled out of our minds to be parents."
